Ballūta Shoes started as a result of an unsuccessful search for women's vegan shoes with a versatile style. From this search the founder, Catarina, created a dream and with it, her lifelong purposeful project: Balluta Shoes.
The name Ballūta is portuguese archain for oak nut, the fruit of the majestic cork oak tree. It was chosen to represent the brand´s belief in sustainable practices since it is the only tree that continuously produces a natural material without menacing the tree’s own existence and thus ensuring the survival of its ecosystem and the livelihood of families.
As its perceived by the name´s meaning, the brand´s main concern is to make high-quality shoes that respect both animal wellbeing and the protection of biodiversity. The brand does this through the use of traditional techniques and high-end eco-friendly materials. All of the shoes are designed and produced in Portugal and have a versatile approach to fit every moment of a woman's life.
